Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has covered wars and natural disasters for nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of people living in these regions. Curry has written about the wars in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in Agana) is an American anchor, reporter on television and journalist. Her most renowned work was as a correspondent on The Today Show, a morning news show broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry gained notoriety for her reporting on natural disasters and humanitarian crises that occurred within war-torn areas. Curry is the daughter of a U.S. Navy sailor and the daughter of a Japanese woman. She met her mother while working with the father of her parents in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. Her father served in the military, so her family had to move around a lot. Curry went to High School in Ashland Oregon. She graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Oregon in 1978. She became the first woman journalist for the station at was 22. In Portland, Oregon she was appointed anchor and reporter by KGW which is NBC's subsidiary. After four years of service, she was hired as an anchor by KCBS TV located in Los Angeles. In her time with the station she received two Emmy Awards.
